Punters Corner

WE APOLOGISE FOR the delay of bringing our Punters Corner link up to date for last week which was week seventeen of our 2021 Punters Corner Charity Tipping Competition but time has been short.

In fact week seventeen should really be forgotten about as it was a wipe out for our three tipsters with all of their best bets of the week going under.

Chris tipped Belmont Diva in the Southland Oaks last Sunday at Invercargill and after getting checked and breaking in the running the horse beat only one home which had Chris feeling a bit sick, but not as much as the Australian purchaser who paid six figures for the daughter of Art Major (USA) a couple of days before.

Belmont Diva has seen the last of New Zealand and will do her future racing from the Victorian stable of Dean Braun.

The Methven Magpie’s best bet of the week was also at the Invercargill meeting but in one of the trots on the twelve race programme.

Race six saw the Michael Heenan trained trotter Boyz Invasion go around for The Magpie and his followers but fifth was its lot, but in saying that, not that far off the winner Fanny Hill.

Mark’s original tip for last week’s racing didn’t get to the post when the Albury meeting was abandoned so his second choice of Drain The Swamp in race four at Ballarat last night couldn’t justify its $1.80 price when running third to Ultimate Vinnie.

With three tips for three misses, we will put a line through week seventeen and look forward to see what the guys best bets will be for this coming weekends racing.

Their tips will be coming through in the next twenty four hours or so, so don’t forget to keep checking our Punters Corner link to see what they come up with.

Chris, Mark and The Magpie will be looking to get back in to that winning grove again.

Until then good punting to all.

Got it all wrong last week with our Southland Oaks tip....wowsers!!!!

Let's rebound on Saturday @ Albion Park Race 2 No.11 MISTERFREEZE

This former southern pacer is winless since arriving in the Sunshine State but you can make excuses in each of the four runs to date.

Last week, just forget he went around.

Needs luck from the draw but is absolutely going well enough to win.

The Methven Magpie is waiting until tomorrows Rangiora meeting for his best bet of the weekend.

He’s keen on Tiger Taylor, who goes around in race two and will carry the thirteen saddle cloth.

The daughter of champion sire Art Major (USA) should be at nice each way odds so get on early as the The Magpie expects it to be well supported.

Tuesday night is Young trots and we will stick with the horse that we were going with last week before Albury was abandoned, Ima Drought Breaker.

Drawn perfectly in two the horse looked hard to beat last week until the meeting didn’t go ahead.

The Darrell Hillier trained pacer looks hard to beat with the local Rock All Night the main danger.

Good punting to all.
